Mosaic Ewe Joins Herd

Press release

Renowned local artist unveiled mosaic ewe

Local artist, Jean Bliss, has put the final tile in place. The finishing touches will soon be rendered and another ewe will make her way down the streets of Fullerton. The full size sheep will reside on the campus of Fullerton College.
Most of the fiberglass rams ewes and lambs have been creatively painted by local artisans. Jean’s entry, sponsored by Fullerton College, is laden with broken tile pieces she has made in her home studio, and accented with bright yellow ochre grout.

Bastanchury Days: The Fullerton Chamber of Commerce is bringing the sheep-fest to Fullerton. The bicentennial event, inspired by the cows in Chicago and Angels in Los Angeles, will celebrate the Basque sheepherders who drove sheep from the Fullerton area to distant sites. This outdoor public art exhibit will intrigue tourists and locals continuing through September 2001. Forty life-size fiberglass sheep, painted by local artists and creatively displayed throughout the downtown area, will be auctioned off later.
